While he has long been a mainstay of bands like Sex on Toast and Vaudeville Smash, I first encountered James Bowers live playing Madlib and Dilla tunes on keys and talkbox as part of the short-lived Haunted Doona (with Perrin Moss and Paul Bender from Hiatus Kaiyote). His solo project JamBau has the electronic, club and new jack swing touches you can hear in his recent work with Au Dre, but he amps up the hi-tech jazz madness when left to (or with) his own devices.
