Born in Germany, with a masters degree in audio design obtained in Switzerland, Frederic Robinson now lives in Sydney where he is completing his phD in 'sonic interaction design'. It's no wonder then that Dolby has sought out his services, and that his music is so detailed, so crisp and so engaging, while still grooving. Finding early recognition in the drum & bass scene with labels like Blu Mar Ten and Hospital, Fred has embraced a wider sonic palette reflecting his love of jazz, modern classical and all kinds of electronic music.

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
