Daniel Riera is a flutist, bassist, wind-controllerist, synthesist, producer, composer and sound designer from San Francisco, CA. He is active as a stage performer with his jazz-fusion quartet the Daniel Riera Ensemble and as musical director for latin-alternative group Soltrón. He also performs with jazz-soul artists Rebirth Canal, Kev Choice, Martin Luther McCoy and Indian bhangra fusion group the KGS Band. He’s a hip-hop producer with credits on US Rap chart top 10 albums X Infinity and Cardboard Castles by Watsky. Daniel releases his solo hip-hop/electronic music under the alias Tito Tunes.
'Clavichords' comes from Riera's album 'Future Primitive', which draws on Riera’s love of jazz, hip-hop, funk, Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music.
The key to Riera’s unique sound is the electronic wind instrument, (EWI), a digital controller that is played like a saxophone. He uses the EWI to control his self-built analog modular synthesizer, creating custom sounds and performing them with the same fluidity and expression that he has on acoustic flute.
Also featured are Bay Area heavy-weights such as keyboardist Kev Choice, (solo artist, Lauryn Hill, Wiz Khalifa); bassist Uriah Duffy (Whitesnake, Points North); Dame Drummer (solo artist, Fantastic Negrito); percussionist Ahkeel Mestayer (Soltron, Idris Ackamoor and the Pyramids); vocalist Viveca Hawkins (The Memorials); and vocalist Camille Mai (Rebirth Canal).
